Paul Sundberg, J.D., is Vice President & Head Counsel, Global Transactions & Contracts - Business Development, at Takeda Pharmaceuticals. He has more than 30 years of corporate legal experience, with a focus on business development and venture investment transactions in the biopharmaceutical industry. Since joining Takeda in 2002, Mr. Sundberg has held roles of increasing responsibility in its Global Legal organization, including supporting transactions for Takeda and its venture investment affiliate, Takeda Ventures, Inc. In 2019, he co-led the legal work for Takeda’s $62 billion acquisition of Shire plc. Mr. Sundberg has served on the boards of OrphoMed, Abintus Bio, the Center for Enriched Living and the International Pharmaceutical Privacy Consortium. Before joining Takeda, he worked in private practice in Chicago and at TAP Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a joint venture between Takeda and Abbott Laboratories. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Southern Methodist University and a Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law.
